Tamil Nadu has long been recognized as one of India’s leading industrial hubs, with a robust manufacturing base, thriving MSME ecosystem, and rapidly growing startup culture. Complementing this industrial strength is Tamil Nadu’s rich skill ecosystem, supported by 2000+ institutions nurturing a vast pool of technically trained youth.
However, despite these strengths, a major gap persists between industry requirements and academic exposure. Industries face evolving challenges in process optimization, automation, digital transformation, and innovation, while academic institutions often lack real-world problem experience.
R&D plays a critical role in addressing this gap. By leveraging Tamil Nadu’s engineering talent, industries gain access to practical, technology-enabled, and cost-effective solutions. Structured collaboration improves innovation, accelerates modernization, and enhances student employability.
The Tamil Nadu Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing (TANCAM) is committed to enabling this transformation. Through initiatives such as the TANCAM’s Hackathon – TN-IMPACT, industries can present real-time challenges, and student teams work towards delivering innovative, feasible, and technology-driven solutions.
The TN-IMPACT Hackathon serves to:
